How to prepare organic chemistry fo CBSE / IIT / AIPMT

Prepare means building concept to a perfection level of 90 to 100%. Total organic chemistry in CBSE exams has a weightage is 35 marks out of 70 marks while in IIT -JEE around 12 to 16 questions are from organic chemirtry out of 30 question similarly in AIPMT there are 20-26 questions out of 45 questions from organic chemistry
Preparing Organic Chemistry: Preparing this part of chemistry is very slow and steady process. It can be compared exactly with mathematics. In mathematics one would need lots of practice to develop a logic or skill to solve a problem. similarly in Organic chemistry one would need practice of
  1. Basics of Organic Chemistry: This is commonly known as GOC  which deals with mechanisms, intermediates and types or reactions. Each aspect is very important as it is all inter related, for having good command over organic chemistry command of types of reactions is required which in process would require good understanding of mechanisms and intermediates that are formed during the reaction mechanism. Just to give you a feel go through  the reaction and decide which mechanism is being followed

if you just go through the reaction then first reaction is product due to nucleophilic substitution                reaction via carbonium ion formation. While second reaction is elimination reaction via carbonium ion            formation. Thus having command over GOC will make the things easier. But initially time is to be spent          in the understanding phase
  1. Named Reaction: This the another area where expertise is required as these are some reaction with very specific products viz aldol condensation reaction , Cross aldol condensation , Ozonolysis reaction etc. Preparing for any competitive examination would require to have command over these reactions as the question are every year based on these reactions.
  2. Properties of Organic compounds:Many question are asked on properties of organic compounds which require good understanding of chemical bonding, Resonance (resonating forms) and concepts of GOC viz induction, bond cleavages  etc .
For preparing organic chemistry the only mantra is practice  practice and practice there is no alternative for preparing organic chemistry, as it is having important from CBSE or IIT-JEE or AIPMT point of view.
