Important topics for IIT -JEE (Mains)

The paper style of IIT -JEE (Mains) is thirty questions from each subject (i.e Chemistry, Physics, and Mathematics). These all questions are objective types with only one correct option only.

Chemistry:

It is the most scoring part in the paper as most of the questions are direct questions i.e application of concept the distribution of marks if divided into a portion of chemistry as Physical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry and Inorganic Chemistry would be

Physical Chemistry:

The most important out of the three branches of chemistry is physical. In this, the important chapters are Chemical Kinetics, Solutions, Electrochemistry, Chemical bonding (this chapter has a very wide application both in Organic and Inorganic) Atomic Structure, and Stoichiometry.

Inorganic Chemistry:

This the second important branch and to master the branch just try to remember the exceptions of the trends in a group or period. the questions are mainly related to the exceptions.

Organic Chemistry:

In this, the questions tend to be slightly tricky when exceptions of mechanisms are merged so try to understand the mechanism thoroughly. The majority of mechanisms that can have tricky questions are from aldehyde and ketone

Physics:

The branch is averagely not as scoring as chemistry as more mathematics is involved and calculations or applications are somewhat time-consuming. The physics is broadly divided into Mechanics,  Heat and Thermodynamics, SHM, Waves,, Bulk properties, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, EMI, Modern Physics, Optics, and Practical. The portion-wise distribution is

In physics, the important portions are Mechanics, Bulk properties, Electrostatics, Optics, and Modern Physics. Also, the practice of both classes is also important.

Mechanics or Bulk properties or Electrostatics or Optics:

In this portion understand the cases that are discussed after the derivations, one should have command relating these cases as per the question.  The question is slightly deviated and if the application of cases is not very strong then chances of committing error increases, which results in negative marking.

Modern Physics:

The questions from this are mainly practically based as the majority of instruments, you study and perform experiments like PN junction, Zener, PNP or NPN transistor, LED, Diodes, triodes etc

Mathematics:

This portion is averagely considered to be the least scoring out of all the three. It’s not because it is difficult but most lengthy questions usually consume more time thus scoring decreases. The portions have the following percentages

Usually, students are good at mathematics but the speed of solving creates a lot of difference. I woulda student to develop speed to solve questions at least from the important portions
